I’ve added a new gallery – this time for Heart of America Council JSPs. As you can see, I’m missing a couple of images (1997 National Jamboree – red border and 2001 National Jamboree gold mylar border).  If you have these patches, please send a scan!  Also, if anyone has the troop numbers to go along with the various border colors, or if you have any other items to add please contact me.

Here’s the link – Heart of America Council JSP gallery

A Broad Kaw Valley reader seeking help identifying an item sent the image below.

It looks like a satin/silk neckerchief with a chain-stitched globe with a numeral “7” superimposed over it. It also has red chain-stitched “Kaw Council” text and a red ribbon border.

Some possible explanations:

  • A Kaw Council 7th (1951) World Jamboree contingent neckerchief
  • A Kaw Council Region 7 Canoe Base contingent neckerchief
  • Something else altogether?

If you have any information about this neckerchief, please send me an email: broadkawvalley at gmail.com.

Also, if you have a Kansas City area item that you need help identifying, drop me a line and I’ll post it.

Well, some of you Camp Naish collectors will be disappointed to know that a frontiersman or “Daniel Boone” patch on a uniform closed recently on eBay. If you take a look at the auction, the title and description weren’t very descriptive. Accordingly, the item didn’t bring very much money (lucky for the winning bidder).

A collector friend made an interesting point about the item: above the Camp Naish patch hangs an order of the arrow pocket device. Tamegonit Lodge, which was founded in 1939, didn’t have any official insignia until the 1950s, so the national symbol was all lodge members had at the time. See below:

Here’s a link to a PDF of the complete listing.

Have you found any local items that have gone under the radar? If so, drop me a line.
